About the Conference

The UAE and Senegal are proud to unite the world at the 2026 UN Water Conference as we celebrate a core tenet of humanity: that water underpins dignity, equity, and opportunity for all.

Water shapes our history, our present, and our collective futures. It is the foundation for sustainable and equitable human dignity, for collective safety and stability, and for prosperity for all nations. It is our most precious global resource, yet it remains a critical, shared global crisis.

The UAE and Senegal represent a Global South partnership bringing together lived experience, vulnerability, and innovation to convene the world on water. Each Co-Host brings a distinct perspective: scarcity, stewardship, and innovation from the UAE; access, sanitation, and clean water from Senegal. In Senegal, Lac de Guiers, connected to the Senegal River, supports drinking water supply, irrigation, and agriculture, linking rural livelihoods with the needs of cities including Dakar.

As Co-Hosts, the UAE and Senegal are committed to facilitating a transformative and inclusive process, where gender-responsiveness, innovation, and capacity building are at the heart of our conversations, collaborations, and co-created solutions. We aspire to convene a UN Water Conference where success is measured by shared insights, openness to new ideas, and lasting transformations that will enable the successful implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6, ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
